Meningitis (MenB) – Patient Information Update

Meningitis (MenB) – Patient Information Update

Important: We are aware of increased concern regarding meningitis (MenB).

Please do not contact the GP surgery

There is no need to contact the practice about meningitis concerns unless you have been directly advised to do so by Public Health.

Contacting the surgery unnecessarily may prevent patients with urgent medical needs from getting through.

Key information

The MenB vaccine is part of the routine UK childhood immunisation schedule and is not offered outside of this unless clinically indicated.

Preventative antibiotics are only provided to close contacts of confirmed cases. These individuals will be contacted directly by Public Health.

When to seek urgent medical help

If you or your child are showing symptoms of meningitis, seek urgent medical advice immediately.

Thank you for your support

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us keep our phone lines available for those who need urgent care.

We will update our website as further guidance is received from Public Health Wales.
